When you’re moving to a new town, there is a lot you will need to know. Moving to Colorado Springs may start with looking for a job and researching school districts, but ultimately you will need to shop the realty companies in Colorado Springs. How do you know which one to choose, when all of them seem to promise the same things? Every agent claims to provide their clients with instant access to new MLS listings, attentive same-day responses to messages, insight about the neighborhoods, and excellent negotiating skills. So how do you choose the best realtor when you are relocating to the Pikes Peak region?
Instead of taking a shot in the dark, there are some ways to objectively compare realty companies in Colorado Springs. Some of these may include a quick telephone interview and a request for testimonials, but which questions will you ask when you get them on the phone? Here are a few ideas for getting the most from your first “meeting”.
- Find out how long they’ve been selling residential real estate in the Colorado Springs market?
- Are they a “realtor” or a real estate agent”?
- What is the price of their average sale?
- Are the more of a buyers’ agent or a sellers’ agent?
- Which neighborhoods are the most active for them currently?
- Where do they think the best “deals” can be found?
- Which area of Colorado Springs was most affected by the housing slump? Which neighborhood was least affected?
- Where do they expect homes to recover the fastest? Are there any neighborhoods that are already increasing?
- What would their most recent client say about their abilities as a negotiator?
- How many clients are they currently working with? Is there a limit to the number of clients they will take on at a time?
Of course, there are probably dozens of other questions you can ask in order to find the best realty companies in Colorado Springs, but the answers to these should be enough to get you started. Basically, you are trying to find out which neighborhoods are best for you to look at, how much experience the realtor has in the area, and how adept they will be at getting you a good deal. You will also want to know that they are not overburdened with clients.
