If you are considering a family relocation to Colorado Springs, chances are you’ve already read several articles on housing values, neighborhoods, schools and real estate taxes. Rather that rattling off more statistics that show Colorado Springs to be one of the most secure places to buy real estate, I thought I’d remind you about some of the non-financial reasons to make the move.
Recently ranked among Top 10 Best Places to Start Over by BusinessWeek Magazine, the Pikes Peak region has many companies that are hiring, and we all know that this is an area with a high quality of life. Ranked number 8 out of 20 cities in the survey, BusinessWeek focuses on the number of viable job prospects here, even in a slow economy. If you’re in construction, information technology, finance, hospitality, wholesale and retail trade, or nondurable goods manufacturing, Colorado Springs is the place for you.
Another coveted prize that is often won by Colorado Springs is the “Fittest City” award, an honor given out annually by Men’s Fitness Magazine. In the most recent article proclaiming Colorado Springs the Fittest City, the magazine touted the region’s geographic location, nutrition, open space and air quality for being among the best in the nation.None of these accolades come as a surprise to people who enjoy the benefits of living in Colorado Springs, but like any other area, relocation to Colorado Springs requires a certain amount of planning. For example, many new residents complain about the altitude and find it difficult to resume their fitness routines when they first get to town. That’s because at 6,000 feet, the body responds quite differently than it would at a lower elevation. Shortness of breath can result, leaving people feeling the effects of overexertion just halfway through their workouts. At 12,000 feet, one only gets 40 percent of the oxygen they would normally get at sea level.
Don’t let the altitude and overall fitness of the area intimidate you, or discourage you from relocation to Colorado Springs. The region has so much to offer for families, from exciting outdoor sports and adventures to excellent schools and communities. In addition to all this, this is the best time to make a secure real estate investment in the Colorado Springs market. Need help finding the perfect home?
