Why buy a home in Colorado Springs? I always say, if it weren’t for the lingering effects of the economic crisis we would all be in the housing market right now. That’s right, everyone! The only missing ingredients in most real estate markets are consumer confidence and jobs.
Consumer confidence in Colorado Springs real estate is starting to rebound, however, especially if you look at how crowded the malls have been this holiday season. The unemployment rate is what keeps many people from entering the housing market, but it really depends on where you live. In the state of Colorado, unemployment is only 6.9%; a much more encouraging number than the national rate of 10.2%. Perhaps that’s why the Colorado Springs housing market is experiencing a more robust recovery than a lot of other regions of the country.

If you are considering buying a home in Colorado Springs before the Federal Tax Credits expire, then my advice is to act quickly. Interest rates are still at historic lows, but many speculate they will be going up soon and when they do, many home buyers will regret procrastinating. Home prices are also still at historic lows, but come spring this could change, especially as the looming deadline for the tax credits cause inventories to decline while demand spikes.
Being here on the front lines, I see a lot of gorgeous Colorado Springs homes for sale, some at such incredible prices I wish I could buy them myself. If you are looking into a new home in Colorado Springs next year and you have decent credit and a secure income, make it your New Year’s resolution to start looking in early January.
